At West Mill Holiday Cottage we want to make everyone's stay as enjoyable as possible, and are committed to providing suitable access for all our guests, whatever their individual needs. We aim to accurately describe our facilities and services to give you the confidence to book the right self-catering cottage for your specific requirements.

 Level Access

•             The main entrance to the cottage has level access through a 1100mm wide front door.

•             There is level access from the main entrance to:

•             There is a small step of 75mm from the hall up to the main double bedroom.

•             There is a double bed in one room and twin beds in the second bedroom

•             There is unobstructed floor space 1200mm by 900mm

•             The bathroom has a raised shower, raised bath and raised toilet.

•             The small step from the hall into the double bedroom is painted white to contrast with the blue carpet.

 Travel by public transport

•             You can get to nearby Sheriff Hutton and Bulmer by bus and York or Malton by train.

•             The nearest bus stop is in Bulmer. The bus stop is 1.3 miles / 2.1km from West Mill Cottage.

•             The nearest train stations are York and Malton. York station is 14 miles / 22.4 km away and Malton station is 8.5 miles /13.6km from West Mill Cottage.  

•             You can get a taxi with Station Taxis of York by calling 01904365365. The taxi company has a wheelchair accessible vehicle.

•             We have a car park. There are accessible parking spaces. The parking is less than 30 metres from the main entrance. Parking is free.

•             There is a drop-off point at the main entrance with no kerb.

•             From the car park to the entrance, there is level access on a gravel/paved surface.

•             The route is 1080mm wide, or more.

•             There is a dedicated gravel parking space outside the cottage with ample room for unloading and manoeuvring.

•             The route to the bedroom is 860mm wide, or more. The bedroom door is 820mm wide. There is 450mm at the side of the bed. The beds are 550mm high. There is a 240mm gap under the bed.

•             The bedroom is twin. The bathroom is separate. The bathroom door is 840mm wide.

•             The bathroom has a stepped access to the shower 200mm high, to the toilet and bath 170mm high. The sink is 830mm high.

•             There is 1000mm in front of the toilet. The toilet seat is 540mm high.

•             The walls and the bathroom fittings have high colour contrast.

•             The shower head can be lowered to 1300mm from the floor if required.

•             The ensuite has a shower with a 200mm high step-in. The direction of transfer is to the front only. There is 800mm in front of the toilet. The toilet seat is 450mm high.

•             The basin is 860mm high. There is space under the basin, with a pedestal.

•             The walls and the bathroom fittings have high colour contrast.

•             The crockery is kept in eye level kitchen units but can be moved to base units on request.

•             The lounge area is open plan with the dining area.

•             From the main entrance to this area, there is level access. The entrance is 850mm wide.

Customer care support

Accessibility equipment

•             The nearest toilet area for assistance dogs is located in the garden to the front of the cottage.

•             We can charge a mobility scooter or battery powered wheelchair in our shed on request. There is an outside 13amp socket.

•              Emergency evacuation procedures are shown in the information file

Customer care support

•             Staff are normally available 24 hours a day though not always on site.

•             The guest information file in the cottage gives details of local services and emergency procedures.

•             The mobile phone signal inside the cottage is variable depending on your network. In an emergency you can use the landline phone in the main house adjacent to the cottage.

•             There is wifi but it can be slow at times.
